14:20 - PLACEBO EFFECT (3) got back on track in a claimer at Catterick last time and if he runs to that sort of level here he should go close for a yard amongst the winners at present (three winners from his last five runners).

14:55 - Moseeb will be popular having won on debut at York last time, but that was on a fast surface and he conditions are likely to be softer today. These conditions will hold fewer fears for ROYAL DIPLOMAT (7), whose best run in Ireland came on heavy ground (on debut at Naas). He has joined Richard Fahey since then and looks set to run well.

15:30 - Mulligatawny is running well but the handicapper may well have his measure at present and he is vulnerable to improvers here. One of those potentially progressive types is AELIUS (8), who won a three-year-old handicap at Nottingham at this trip last time. This is his first start in open handicap company, and he looks to have a big chance of doubling up.

16:05 - JAAMEH (1) wouldn't be the first from his stable to bounce back to winning ways after a below-par run, and he had looked a horse to follow when winning at Newmarket in July prior to his flop in the Northumberland Plate last time. Given the favourite's profile, however, it is also worth including FLEETING VISIT (7) who represents an in-form yard and should run his race.

16:40 - The eye is drawn to the three-year-old AREEN HEART (6), who continued his progression with a good second at Haydock last time and may not have finished improving yet given his profile. He has form with cut in the ground and would seem to have few things against him here.

17:15 - The sole three-year-old in the field ROAR (7) looks a very solid favourite here, with the step up in trip likely to suit him on pedigree and given the nature of his win at Newmarket last time, where he found plenty for pressure. The rain will only have helped his chances given his sire/action and he is worth backing.

17:50 - Rapid Ranger showed up well for a while on his first start for David O'Meara last time and may well come on for that run. He has claims from this mark on his standout piece of form for Gary Moore (second in a maiden at Kempton in September) and should run well on handicap debut here.

Recommendation:

Win back ROAR in the 17:15 at Ripon

Placepot permutation:

14:20 - 3
14:55 - 7
15:30 - 8
16:05 - 1, 7
16:40 - 6
17:15 - 7
