Nick Shiambouros struck again yesterday when his selection Temple Of Heaven won at Newbury. Nick returns with two more selections from Ripon...
"There is enough speed in the pedigree to suggest he could be competitive at first asking and is reasonably priced at 7.413/2 on the exchange"
Oso a Rapid debutant
14:00 Ripon - Oso Rapido
Debutant Oso Rapido should give a good account of himself in this interesting novice stakes.
This Kodiac colt comes from a good family, and is a half-brother to Shaaqaaf who was a pretty decent handicapper for John Gosden. He was an expensive buyback as a foal and as a yearling. There is enough speed in the pedigree to suggest he could be competitive at first asking and is reasonably priced at 7.413/2 on the exchange. I would advise monitoring the market closely as he could attract further support.
Another debutant Abadie is the short priced favourite at 2.466/4 on the exchange. He cost a fortune as a foal, and makes his debut for high profile connections. The half-brother to Stepper Point will be ready but is priced accordingly.
Millions to defy penalty
17:30 Ripon - Millions Memories
Millions Memories is taken to defy a penalty in this novice stakes.
This colt put in a much improved effort when beating Wiretap. He took the lead a furlong from home , and held on in determined fashion to win by a head. I think he will benefit from the extra yardage, and is open to a fair bit of improvement. At present he is trading at 5.59/2 on the exchange.
Australis is the market leader at 2.942/1 on the exchange. He finished a good second to Gold Stick in a similar event at Wetherby earlier this month and should move forward again. The stable is going well ,and it is no surprise to see him trading at this short price.
