Bets Of The Day: Great Dame ready on debut
Nick Shiambouros hopes to start the new week with a couple of winners from Redcar and Windsor...
"There is plenty of speed in her pedigree along with talent, and hopefully she will be ready at first asking"
Great to dominate
14:00 Redcar - Great Dame
I am going to take a chance with debutant Great Dame in this interesting novice stakes.
This Dandy Man filly is out of a Dam that was a pretty useful handicapper. She is a half-sister to the talented Donnerschlag who was a dual Group winner in Germany, and to Listed winner Izzy Bizu. Interestingly a half-brother foal by Awtaad went through the ring for a whopping 170,000GNS last December. There is plenty of speed in her pedigree along with talent, and hopefully she will be ready at first asking. At present she is trading at [5.6].
Exclusively is the short priced favourite at [2.32]. She represents high profile connections and the stable is in good form. She comes from a decent family and must be respected.
Global to rule
15:20 Windsor - Global Falcon
Global Falcon should prove difficult to beat in this novice stakes.
This colt caught the eye when finishing fourth to Ebury at Kempton earlier this month. Despite missing the break, he made ground to deliver a challenge a furlong from home but was badly hampered and failed to recover. It is difficult to know if he would have won, but he would have finished second at the very least. This appears to be the perfect opportunity for him to get off the mark, and is reasonably priced at [2.94].
The well related Days Of Glory is the second favourite at [3.9]. He has shown some promise in two starts, but I think the selection has more scope for improvement. Not for me.
