Genesius the value
14:20 Redcar - Genesius
I am going to take a chance with debutant Genesius in this interesting novice stakes.
This Teofilo colt is out of the Dam Craic Agus Spraoi who is a half-sister to the smart Parish Hall. There is plenty of speed in the pedigree, and is an early foal which does not hurt. The stable has not had a two-year-old winner yet, but had a winner at HQ on Friday. I think he is worth an Each-Way bet at around 25.024/1 on the exchange.
Thunderous is the short priced favourite at 2.021/1 on the exchange. He was a game winner from the front on debut at Doncaster last month but does have to carry a penalty. The Mark Johnston stable is going great guns and he will likely make another bold bid.
Mina Vagante to deliver
14:55 Redcar - Mina Vagante
Mina Vagante should make her presence felt in her handicap debut.
This filly was not disgraced when finishing down the field to Fabulist in a warm novice stakes at HQ last month. She made a little headway in the closing stages, but never had a realistic chance of delivering a challenge. The second and fifth place finishers have since won giving the form a nice boost. She races off an opening mark of 67 which is more than fair in my opinion. At present she is trading at 4.84/1 on the exchange.
First Dance is the current favourite at 4.216/5 on the exchange. She finished a closing sixth to Archie Perkins at York earlier this month, and has dropped to a competitive mark. She is the main danger.
