Alazan was back to form reunited with former yard this year, making a sound start over fences when runner-up at Uttoxeter (2m) last month. More to come now handicapping in this sphere.
Royale's Charter got back on track over fences when opening chasing account at Worcester (2m) in August. Potential to do better still now returned to handicaps and very much one to consider.
Quobilai was tongue tied when opening chasing account at second attempt for this yard at Wetherby (2m) in March, but undone by steep rise in weights next time and this no easier on reappearance.
Eastlake's weak finishing has been evident most starts since winning first 2 starts over fences in May, but sliding down the weights, and return to this shorter trip likely to help.
Christopher Wren was a useful stayer on Flat who won twice over hurdles in 2011, but has shown little aptitude for chasing since returning from a summer break in September. Something to prove now.
Up To The Mark is a front-runner who scored for second time over fences at Ludlow (2½m) in March. Not disgraced next time, but more required if he is to defy current mark, and may need this on return
Shooters Wood is a hunter chase winner who has twice found one too good in handicaps for this yard in recent months, sticking to task at Kempton last time. Further ease in weights should see him competitive again.
Mibleu was more fluent when cashing in off reduced mark at Newton Abbot (2m) in September. Back at that level when a place behind Shooters Wood at Kempton recently, but likely to find a few too good once more.
Tarkari got back on the scoreboard over hurdles at Southwell (2m) in July, but yet to scale the same heights all 3 outings over fences, and passed over following poor run back over timber last month.
Tempting Paradise is an error prone chaser who cut out the mistakes when resuming winning ways at Uttoxeter (2m) in May. Reverted to type since, however, and others less risky.
Black Phantom is a winning hurdler whose chase career amounted to nothing for Andy Turnell. Similar abject performance starting out over fences for new yard recently, and not difficult to look elsewhere.
Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Royale's Charter
2. Alazan
3. Shooters Wood
Timeform View: Shooters Wood is certain to pop up at some stage for Paul Nicholls and commands respect, but Royale's Charter and Alazan boast more potential, the former given the nod.
