Timeform assess the field for a listed two-year-old race at Ripon on Monday...
"Supplicant is a very useful juvenile who was second in Windsor Castle at Ascot and looked unlucky not to finish closer when fifth in Molecomb..."
Legend Rising won twice earlier in summer. Can't have been right when last of 3 at Kempton last time but has a bit to find with Supplicant even if back to best. Blinkered first time.
Northern Water placed first 2 starts and got the job done at third time of asking at Beverley (5f) earlier this month. Will stay 6f but improvement needed to play a prominent role. Engaged 4.40 Beverley Sunday.
Riverboat Springs won maiden at Bath before catching the eye when second in Epsom listed event. Disappointing in Coventry at Royal Ascot, but given a break since and worth a chance to get back on the up.
Supplicant is a very useful juvenile who was second in Windsor Castle at Ascot and looked unlucky not to finish closer when fifth in Molecomb. Simple task over C&D recently and should be tough to beat again.
Hoku finished runner-up in listed race at York in May and off mark with a ready success in Windsor maiden earlier this month. Bit of improvement needed to trouble Supplicant, though.
Ventura Mist improved to win Hilary Needler in cheekpieces in May. Also good second to Fig Roll in Newmarket listed event in June, but well held on return from break at York last week.
Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Supplicant
2. Riverboat Springs
3. Hoku
Timeform Verdict: Supplicant has a lot more opposition than when winning over C&D 9 days ago but should still take a bit of stopping. The main threat may come from Riverboat Springs, who has been given time to get over his flop in the Coventry and had shaped well in an Epsom listed event prior to that.
