Balducci was the winner of 1m minor event at Newmarket in July 2011. Lightly raced and largely disappointing last year, but more like it when third at Newcastle last month and has since joined another good yard.
Suits Me is a front runner who went with all his old verve when making a winning reappearance at Ripon (1m). Latest C&D third well advertised since, but recent rainfall likely against him.
Dubai Dynamo opened account for 2013 at Thirsk in April (7f) and kept busy since, just behind Suits Me when fourth over C&D. Never a threat at Newcastle on Saturday, though.
Fort Belvedere won minor event at Longchamp (1¼m) in 2011. Fair efforts when twice placed in handicaps after a long absence for new yard this spring and excused York defeat, but Newcastle run harder to excuse.
Invincible Hero proved better than ever when scoring over 1m at Nottingham in May. Good fourth at Thirsk 8 days later, but readily brushed aside at Doncaster twice last month. Versatile ground-wise.
Sound Advice built on encouraging reappearance run to score with plenty to spare at Newcastle from 4 lb lower in May. Shaped well at Carlisle next time, but failed to fire at Yarmouth. Rare run on soft ground.
Le Chat d'Or scored twice in 2012. As good as ever when making the frame all 3 outings this time around, and fully effective in the mud, so likely to be bang there again.
Steer By The Stars improved in nurseries during 2012 and lot to like about her Thirsk reappearance effort. Quick ground perhaps against her since, so very much of interest now from a reduced mark.
Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Steer By The Stars
2. Balducci
3. Le Chat d'Or
Timeform Verdict: This represents a drop in class for Balducci on debut for the bang in-form David O'Meara, but sole 3-y-o Steer By The Stars is perhaps the interesting one on deteriorating ground. Le Chat D'or seems sure to give another good account.
