Custom Cut looked progressive when scoring 4 times over 7f last summer. Landed Gladness Stake and good second in Group 3 at Leopardstown, but just respectable efforts on last 3 starts. Headgear applied.
Boom And Bust is a reliable sort who finished third in last year's Cambridgeshire. Good third in the Lennox Stakes over C&D before second in Group 3 at Salisbury last 2 starts. Should give another good account
Bronze Prince is a useful handicapper whose best turf efforts have come over 7f, but looks out of his depth here.
Libranno was as good as ever in 2012, winning 3 times, but while he's posted mostly creditable efforts in defeat this time around, he doesn't appear to be quite the force of old.
Lockwood was a 6f Group 3 winner for Andre Fabre last summer. Benefited from drop in grade when winning 4-runner minor event at Thirsk last time but will find this harder.
Pastoral Player is a hold-up sort who won Group 3 at Haydock last year, and has looked unlucky in defeat 2 of last 3 starts, including in Lennox Stakes over C&D most recently. Needs luck but more than capable of winning.
Penitent has thrived upon joining this yard last year, winning first 2 starts (including Group 2). Good second in Group 3 at Epsom before not disgraced in Queen Anne. Big chance, especially if rain arrives.
Professor is a smart colt who has built up good strike rate, completing hat-trick this year in 6f listed race at Salisbury. Not so good last 2 starts but player if bouncing back.
Well Acquainted is a likeable type who has registered both his wins at Epsom, including 7f listed event in May. Last 2 starts suggest he's not up to this level, though.
Timeform 1-2-3:
1. Pastoral Player
2. Penitent
3. Boom And Bust
Timeform View: Not the strongest race for the grade and a chance is taken on Pastoral Player getting a smooth run. Penitent, Professor and Boom And Bust make up the shortlist.
