Thursday's Placepot attempt comes from Pontefract

There is an interesting card at Pontefract on Thursday and that is where we head for today's Placepot attempt.

"Hookergate Grammar was not seen to best effect last time at Redcar, making a sweeping move too early on in the race..."

14:10- Spike took a step forward from his debut when just touched off at Catterick last month, whilst leaving plenty for his trainer to work on in the meantime, having hung under pressure two furlongs out, and he looks a solid option to make the places here in what looks a fairly ordinary contest.

14:45- Hernando Torres is clearly a late developer, and has strong place claims based on his York run two starts back, with headgear re-applied (absent last time), from a low draw, with his prominent racing style set to suit this track. Two of Dark Ocean's three career wins have come at this track, and he is also worth including, with Jedd O'Keeffe in red-hot form at present.

15:15- Entity made all over C&D before seemingly being unsuited by a step up to 12 furlongs at Salisbury last time, and is worth chancing again, having only her 7th start here. Briardale is potentially ahead of the handicapper after producing a fairly-useful effort when winning on debut last time, offering plenty to work on, and should also be included.

15:50- Despite a high draw, this looks a good opportunity for Guishan to follow up from her Hamilton win from just 3lbs higher in the weights, considering the lack of rival front runners in this race. Maureb should also be able to get prominent from wide, and is also worth including, with her last run, with her customary headgear left off, best ignored.

16:20- Hookergate Grammar was not seen to best effect last time at Redcar, making a sweeping move too early on in the race, and with the return to this sort of trip very much in his favour, he is a confident selection to make the places in a race containing plenty of exposed older horses.

16:55- Dew Pond bumped into one last time at Redcard, and with this new trip holding no fears based on his run over two miles earlier in the season, he looks banker material for a place in our final leg.

Recommendations:
14:10- 3
14:45- 1,10
15:15- 11,12
15:50- 2,10
16:20- 10
16:55- 10
