I had four runners last week which started off with Dove Mountain finishing 2nd at Stratford. He's a horse that will win again before the ground turns soft.
Mizen Master went to Bangor to try and follow up his Stratford success only to finish second as well. I thought he could have jumped a bit neater, which may have cost him the race, but he will be winning again once stepped up in trip.
I headed to Market Rasen on Sunday where Sky Of Stars somehow managed to get back in to the race after very nearly being brought down after which he went on to wear down the odds-on favourite in the last half furlong to win by a length. Saucy Sioux ran an awful lot better than her finishing position suggested and I take the blame for running her over the wrong trip.
This week's runners
I have one or two in on the flat this week starting with Banff at Salisbury today. He came out of Newcastle well last week and although he's gone up 9lbs he could well be a horse who keeps improving and I'm looking forward to running him.
On Wednesday Sevilla may go to Brighton along with Gold Class. Both are going well and the latter could have a very lenient mark on the flat based on his jumps rating. He seems in great form at home.
Friday Enchanted Moment will go to Wolverhampton as her best form is at this track and I will put a set of blinkers on her to try and sharpen her up. Meanwhile the weekend looks like it will be a quiet one for me runners wise with there being no National Hunt meetings in the calendar.
A new addition to the team
This week Fergus Gregory, formally conditional to Paul Webber, joins the team to be my conditional. He's a lad I've watched ride a bit and he seems to me like he's going to be great value for his claim and a big addition to the yard. Hopefully you'll see him booting in a few winners in the not too distant future!
