Nick Shiambouros is back with two selections from the card at Nottingham...
"The extra yardage should bring about further improvement ,and is fairly priced at 6.411/2 on the exchange"
Back Port Winston in the 14:10 at Nottingham
Port to storm home
14:10 Nottingham - Port Winston
Port Winston is taken to upset the short priced favourite in this novice stakes.
This colt finished an excellent third to Emten on debut at Windsor last month. He held every chance a furlong from home, but failed to quicken when the pace lifted. The extra yardage should bring about further improvement ,and is fairly priced at 6.411/2 on the exchange. In addition the Alan King yard is going well at present which is a bonus.
Debutant Ottoman Court is the clear favourite at 1.9520/21 on the exchange. This Shamardal colt is a half-brother to Group placed Swift Rose who also won on debut. He has a super pedigree, but is priced accordingly. I can afford to let him win at this price.
Aegeus no myth
14:45 Nottingham - Aegeus
Aegeus should prove difficult to beat in this novice stakes.
This First Defence gelding caught the eye on debut when finishing second at Bath earlier this month. He ran on really well inside the final furlong, and pushed the winner all the way to the line. This was a promising effort, and is open to a fair bit of improvement. At present he is trading at 3.45 on the exchange which is more than fair.
Tabassor heads the market at 2.767/4 on the exchange. He finished a decent third to Search For Light at Haydock last month and should have more to offer. The stable is struggling to find winners in the three-year-old division, and have little interest in backing him at this price.
