Nick pips for the favourite in the big one across the channel.

At Longchamp today in the 3.40, Zarkava comes in to the race boasting a very impressive unbeaten record. Last time out over this course she showed a blistering turn of foot to cut down some quality horses and was geared down close to home to post a very impressive win. Clearly she has more to do today but she has the potential to be crowned one of the best filly we have seen in a long time and i have backed her at her current price of [3.25]

At Redcar today in the 3.35, Il Waard is an interesting runner in this Listed event. This Pivotal colt has more than enough form in the book to go very close here and comes in to this race after finishing second to Kalahari Gold at Newbury last time out. He has fared reasonably well in group company and will most definitely appreciate the ease in grade. At present he is trading at [3.85] on the exchange.

Perfect Stride comes to Newmarket today with something to prove after finishing sixth to River Proud at Goodwood in August. This son of Oasis Dream, who goes off at 2.05, has been held in very high regard for some time and ran down the field in the 2000 Guineas in May when not at his best due to a interrupted preparation. He is still very lightly raced and could well have more to offer and his current exchange price of [7.6] appears reasonable.

At HQ today in the opening race at 2pm Alhaque should have a solid chance of opening his account in this maiden. This beautifully bred son of Galileo ran very well on debut finishing second to North East Corner and gave me the strong impression that he could be open to a great deal of improvement. He holds some big entries and should go very close in this race. At present he is trading at [2.78] on the exchange.

Later on at 4.20, Judd Street is a horse that interests me in both markets in this Listed event over the minimum trip. This consistent performer put up a decent effort last time out when winning a fair race at Haydock. He is currently trading at [7.2] on the exchange.

At Nottingham in the 2.20 Fitz Flyer should go very close in this maiden over five furlongs. This colt by Acclamation has some rock solid form in the book notably when finishing fifth to Elnawin in a very valuable sales race at HQ. Today he really should appreciate the drop back to maiden company and it will be disappointing if he can't land this event. At present the selection is trading at [2.3] on the exchange.

At Southwell today in the 2.50, I will be backing Silent Wonder in this maiden run on the Fibresand over six furlongs. This inexpensive purchase has run two creditable races so far and in the circumstances did well to finish second to Ursula last time out at Haydock considering she did not handle the very testing going. Today she will appreciate the artificial surface and should go close in this contest. At present she is trading at 2.7 on the exchange.

At Windsor today in the 3pm Flintlock should go close in this maiden run over six furlongs. This well bred gelding by Oasis Dream has plenty of form in the book notably when finishing fourth to Calahonda in a fair nursery last time out over seven furlongs after making most of the running. In my opinion he has just failed to see out the trip and the return to six will suit. At present he is trading at [2.98] on the exchange.
