Nick Shiambouros returns with a couple of selections from Newmarket and Newcastle...
"The better ground will be in his favour , and I am expecting a big run"
Back Suedois in the 15:15 at Newmarket
Suedois ready for a big run
15:15 Newmarket - Suedois
I am going to give Suedois another chance in this interesting Group 3 event.
This talented gelding finished second to the much improved Safe Voyage at Haydock earlier this month. He ran on willingly in the testing conditions, but could not get to grips with the impressive winner. He has some excellent form in the book and has a Grade 1 win to his name at Keenland a couple of years ago. The better ground will be in his favour , and I am expecting a big run. At present he is trading at 6.411/2 on the exchange which is more than fair.
Limato heads the market at 3.65 on the exchange. This admirable performer finished fourth to Invincible Army at York in April, and should be better for the run. He is the main danger, but has to carry a penalty which could prove problematic.
Gibbs to land gamble
15:35 Newcastle - Gibbs Hill
Gibbs Hill should make his presence felt in this competitive two mile handicap.
This talented gelding has been off the course for over two years, but has attracted significant support for this race. He bolted up in a handicap at Kempton when last seen, and looked to be a Group horse in the making. He loves these artificial surfaces, and should go close if he gets home over this longer trip.
Stratum has no stamina issues and is the second choice at 7.413/2 on the exchange. He has run well in these big handicaps, and was an easy winner over hurdles in his preparation for this race. Not without a chance.
