"On that evidence, a subsequent 2 lb rise underestimates her..."

Timeform on Phantasmic

14:05 - MELODIC MOTION's (5) first couple of outings this season have been slightly disappointing, but not much went right last time and she'd have every chance in this based on the pick of last year's efforts. She was hampered in a listed event over C&D last time, unlikely to have troubled the principals, but still costing her a couple of lengths, and she gets a tentative vote in a tricky race, ahead of Crimson Rosette and the upwardly-mobile Galmarley.

14:40 - This looks very competitive, but PORCELAIN GIRL (9) continued her progress when winning on nursery debut at Doncaster last time, swooping through from the back to readily overcome a mark of 71 last time and, based on her pedigree, it could be a while before the handicapper catches up with her. This wide-open nursery should throw up plenty of future winners, and Prairie Spy, another well-bred sort, is also considered along with the unbeaten Quiet Waters.

15:15 - A hot-looking fillies' minor event, full of promising types. POSTED (7) created a very favourable impression when runner-up in a big field at Newbury on debut, and she can make her second start a winning one with improvement almost certain. New Jazz is also once raced and an exciting prospect, while the Godolphin newcomers, Divine Justice and Dubai Beauty, both really take the eye on paper and need monitoring in the market.

15:50 - SWISS KNIGHT (6) is best excused his latest effort, something obviously not right, weakening tamely over two furlongs out at Haydock last time. He'd looked a smart prospect when winning a minor event previously, though, so he's best judged on that impression for now, and is chanced to defy a mark of 85 switched to handicaps. Highlight Reel is a big player if the pace is strong enough and Starboy must be respected bidding for his fourth success in his last 5 outings.

16:25 - PHANTASMIC (3) improved as expected when making a winning handicap debut at Beverley in June and she lost little in defeat when a neck second to an equally progressive filly at Ascot last time (form looks strong with the winner only narrowly beaten in the Lillie Langtry Stakes at Goodwood earlier this week). On that evidence, a subsequent 2 lb rise underestimates her, and she is a confident selection with further improvement forthcoming. Another improved showing is expected from Reassurance upped further in trip, and last-time-out winner Hyanna is an obvious danger.

17:00 - TEAM DECISION (4) already looks a good buy at £50,000 (as a foal), a full-brother to a smart sort who has been progressive up to now and doesn't seem to have hit his limit. He can go in again here having only gone up 3 lb for his recent victory at Windsor. Paddy The Chef and Liva are the obvious alternatives in a race that the three-year-olds should dominate.

17:35 - Barring a blip on his second start, PERISHER (5) has looked a good prospect so far, his debut encouraging and his latest success at Thirsk coming rather easily to him, so it's worth taking the chance that this son of Pivotal can continue his progress into handicaps and defy an opening mark of 84 up against more exposed sorts. Swiss Storm is the main danger ahead of Tadleel.
