There is a good card at Newcastle today and that is where we head for Friday's Placepot attempt...

"The handicap debutant Pudding also catches the eye for Lady Cecil upped in trip and tongue tied for the first time."

14:10 - A tricky starting point for today's Placepot but all three of the previously raced entrants have something to recommend about them. It is worth playing it safe with the well-related Haughmond who showed the most ability on debut, along with Blue Humour who is also expected to run well here.

14:40 - Akeed Champion is yet to recapture the form of his debut where he was second to some useful sorts but he improved from his seasonal reappearance when better than the result at Thirsk last time, and he should be competitive again here. Sea of Green should also be included as she caught the eye finishing third last time out after losing five lengths at the start of the race in a blindfold mishap.

15:15 - Rockweiller won from a 1lb lower mark last season under Jason Hart and looks a solid option in the first handicap of the day at Newcastle under the same mark as when just touched off at Ayr earlier this month.

15:45 - King of The Picts is a useful hurdler and was seen for the first time in this sphere last month at Musselburgh where he probably needed the run after a couple of months off and he remains well treated on his early Irish Flat form from this mark. Primogeniture is an interesting new recruit for David O'Meara on his Irish form early last season and he would not have been suited by the speedy test at York on his first appearance, he is worth another chance at a more suitable trip.

16:20 - Robins Pearl is ahead of the handicapper under a 6lb penalty following her Sandown success on handicap debut earlier this month. She did well to pick up her rivals who were arguably better placed and this race looks a bit less competitive.

16:55 - Red Unico is a solid option for a place in this seeing as he often gives his running from this sort of mark, with the booking of Luke Morris expected to have a positive impact. The handicap debutant Pudding also catches the eye for Lady Cecil upped in trip and tongue tied for the first time.

Recommendations:
14:10 - 2, 5
14:40 - 1, 8
15:15 -6
15:45 - 6, 8
16:20 - 6
16:55 - 4, 12
