17:15 - NAVAJO STAR (12) showed improved form to get off the mark stepped up to this trip at Chelmsford last week and is taken to follow up under a penalty. Hallstatt and Jan Smuts can also make their presence felt in this opening leg of the Placepot.
17:45 - ELDRITCH (6) resumed his progress back from a break (had been gelded) when fourth at Kempton last week and was arguably unlucky not to finish closer, having endured a troubled passage in the closing stages. He remains one to be positive about with further improvement likely. Reshoun was clear of the rest when a close second at Leicester recently and is next best ahead of Pioneertown, who won well over C&D last month.
18:15 - ROYAL RESIDENCE (5) shaped well when mid-field in an above-average maiden at Newbury last month and is fancied to put that experience to good use in this third leg of the Placepot. Mountain Breath belied her massive odds when placed on debut over this C&D last month and, along with the newcomer Amadeus, completes the shortlist.
18:45 - CROWN OF CORTEZ (3) showed much improved form to get off the mark on his handicap debut here five weeks ago, and the way he travelled suggests the drop back to six furlongs will not be a problem. With the prospect of more to come if the blinkers continue to have desired the effect, Crown of Cortez looks a worthy favourite for Paul Hanagan, and is fancied to follow up despite a 7 lb hike in the weights. Gabrial The Devil had excuses last time and is best of the rest.
19:15 - W G GRACE (1) has yet to kick on from his winning nursery/AW debut back in August, yet this is the first time he has returned to an artificial surface since, and he could be worth chancing to get back on the up now. Richard Fahey's pair Mabo and Just For Fun are two of the likelier threats, with Ray Purchase also entering the reckoning for each-way purposes.
19:45 - JAFETICA (6) failed to improve when fourth on her most recent outing at Lingfield, but she starts out in handicaps from what looks a fair opening mark, and makes plenty of appeal with the Placepot in mind. Indeed, the James Fanshawe yard is ending the season in fine form, and it could be significant that the best effort of her short career to date came over this trip. Corked shaped very well after 14 months off at Chelmsford recently and can give the selection most to do.
20:15 - LEWINSKY (7) has been a little disappointing since going close in a Chelmsford maiden on debut, but she returns on the back of four weeks off in a weak race, so could be the answer. Lord Commander may emerge as the main danger ahead of American Hustle.
20:45 - KROY (12) couldn't have been 100% given how quickly he was beaten at Catterick in July, and having fared best of the high drawn runners at Thirsk previously, he is worth chancing to bounce back from what rates a workable mark in the finale.
