Timeform on Counter Spirit

17:30 - Whilst CROSS MY MIND (9) isn't the easiest of rides, but she has been running well of late, scoring over C&D in the closing strides last month. Things didn't go her way at Windsor last time out, but she ran at least as well as she did at Newcastle. She sets the standard on form, and is fancied to have too much late on for the in-form Ralph Beckett team. Formula One likely has more to offer and is feared most ahead of Grecian Spirit.

18:00 - MY BROTHER MIKE (3) turned in his best effort when returned to the tapeta here last time, looking like playing a bigger part for a while than he ultimately did, eventually finishing fourth. He drops back in trip and can land this race for the second year running for a yard which has had a fine summer. Island Flame is another who has won here in the past and can't be dismissed in her current form. Player's Luck could do better having been gelded.

18:30 - WILD ABANDON (11) was much improved when third to Dirty Rascal at Windsor 3 weeks ago, looking the best prospect in the field that day. Given the form of the winner since (finishing second in a valuable race at Doncaster, before scoring at Newbury), she could be hard to beat if taking another step forward as expected. Aldana is a big danger after a promising debut at Haydock, while Material Girl should also have more to offer.

19:00 - TURGENEV (6) was prominent in the betting and duly shaped encouragingly when runner-up on debut at Doncaster 10 days ago, running on late to grab second despite showing greenness. The step up to a mile rates as a plus and he can make it second time lucky in an event which looks no stronger. Al Mureib and Durrell can do battle for minor honours.

19:30 - MY UKULELE (11) is in a good groove at the moment, and ran well in a decent 1m Thirsk nursery last time, only beaten by one who belongs in better nurseries. She could open her account at the seventh attempt if carrying on the good work switched to the all-weather. Blazing Dreams is feared, while Smashing Lass, the only previous winner in the field, can have a good case made for her having run well here previously.

20:00 - SUMNER BEACH (3) has been given a chance by the handicapper and caught the eye when third behind She's Royal over 7f here 17 days ago, a return to the all-weather perhaps being a factor. Stepping back up to 1m will suit and he can reverse the form on this occasion. Majeste is also worth keeping an eye on from his sliding mark.

20:30 - Not a strong race by any means, but WASTED SUNSETS (9) stands out as the least exposed in the line up and, having run her best race to date when third at Yarmouth last month (handicap debut), she could be worth chancing. Joyful Star and Clary are just 2 possible threats, as is Chosen World.

21:00 - COUNTER SPIRIT (7) has improved for the switch to handicaps in recent months, successful at Wolverhampton prior to a solid second over C&D 24 days ago. She is taken to come out on top given she remains on a feasible mark. La Isla Bonita and Roman Spinner can also feature in what rates a tricky finale.
