18:00 - EXCEL AGAIN (7) won his maiden over this C&D in good style back in February and hasn't been disgraced in turf handicaps since. He was a little free in the early stages at Yarmouth last time, but he had every chance, though he remains one to be interested in returned to the all-weather. He is one of the least exposed in this line-up and is fancied to resume winning ways.

18:30 - The Michael Dods yard are going great guns at present and INTENSE ROMANCE (4) has plenty to recommend her tonight. She remains unbeaten at this course with three wins (two over C&D) and shaped as though still in good form over six furlongs at Hamilton last time, just fading in the final 100 yards. The return to the minimum trip and this course are expected to result in a bold showing. FRUIT SALAD (1) ran disappointingly on the face of it in a better handicap at York two weeks ago, but that was only her second start of the season, and she also should appreciate the drop back to five furlongs. The addition of cheekpieces may perk her up, too.

19:00 - Tim Easterby holds a strong hand here, with both ORION'S BOW (1) and RASHEEQ (9) making plenty of appeal. The former endured a luckless run in the Super Sprint at Musselburgh last time having been heavily backed, leaving the strong impression he should have finished closer, finishing pretty much on the bridle. He is in much better form than his recent form figures suggest and looks a worthy favourite for a race he won last year. Rasheeq also wasn't seen to best effect at Musselburgh last time, and he looked a progressive sprinter at York on his previous run, clocking an excellent Timefigure when finishing runner-up to stablemate Copper Knight. Granted they both get the breaks in another competitive sprint, they ought to go close.

19:35 - This looks trappy, but MIRZAM (4) will be suited by the step back up in trip having shaped well at Nottingham last time. She was outpaced over two furlongs out, but plugged on again in the closing stages, very much looking as though she will benefit from return to 1½m, and she may yet have more to offer at this distance.

20:05 - CHAIN OF DAISIES (1) has some smart form to her name and really ought to resume winning ways back in listed company. She was only fifth in this race last year, but she showed marked improvement to win her next two starts after, and is entitled to come on for her albeit disappointing reappearance run at Sandown last month. Henry Candy is in much better form now and she very much sets the standard in this field.

20:40 - Roger Varian's TAMIH (11) was sent off at 25/1 for his debut at Wolverhampton last month but shaped much better than those odds. He was hampered after a furlong, but otherwise travelled fluently, and ran on towards the finish. That experience will stand him in good stead, and this stiffer track ought to play to his strengths too. Granted normal improvement, he should go close.

21:10 - DREAM ALLY (5) could hardly arrive in better form and is worth the chance to overcome a small rise in the weights in his search for a fourth win in his last five starts. Quiet Warrior still has mileage in him from this mark and warrants respect starting out for a new yard, and there's every chance Interlink's second effort for Mick Appleby will contain a lot more encouragement than his first.

Recommendation:

Win back ORION'S BOW (1) in the 19:00

Placepot permutation:

18:00 - 7
18:30 - 1, 4
19:00 - 1, 9
19:35 - 4
20:05 - 1
20:40 - 11
