A Newbury NAP, Next Best and Each Way from Timeform
Newbury Nap - 13:30 - Back Emitom
Emitom was a smart novice hurdler earlier in his career and, though he seemingly isn't the force of old, he is still a solid, useful handicapper who remains fairly treated from a mark of 132.
He also has a good record at Newbury (form figures 112) with his only defeat coming at the hands of Young Butler (now a non-runner) on his return over course and distance this season.
Emitom also ran a cracker when pushing a progressive sort close at Ludlow last time and that form has been boosted since with that rival winning a big handicap at Sandown last weekend. He will have no problem with the forecast ground and he just looks a rock-solid proposition.
Newbury Next Best - 15:50 - Back Inch House
Inch House has made a very positive start over fences, confirming the promise of his debut effort in this sphere when opening his account in a handicap over course and distance (strong form) and following up in good style back at this course over slightly shorter in December.
He had his winning run ended at Cheltenham last time, but he wasn't seen to best effect, his jumping not quite as slick and also left with a bit too much to do.
Inch House stayed on well at the finish behind a well-handicapped Irish raider and he still looks well treated from a mark of 137. Provided he is just as effective in these more testing conditions, he should take all the beating back at a track he clearly likes.
Newbury Each Way - 15:15 - Back Kamsinas
A typically competitive renewal of the Betfair Hurdle and ground conditions mean it will be a likely gruelling race. The ground is a slight concern for Kamsinas, but I have liked him for this race for a while now and he remains a fair price.
He looked very promising when winning two of his first three starts, including a Grade 2 at Haydock, and for whatever reason he didn't run his race in a Grade 1 at Aintree over Christmas.
Based on his previous form, and opening mark of 132 looks potentially lenient, and a likely strongly-run race over this trip is what he needs. Novices making their handicap debut also have an excellent record in this race.
