"The market has spoken in her favour this morning..."

Timeform on Pont Vert

17:50 - SERGIO LEONE (5) has failed to build on his promising handicap debut in two subsequent starts, but this represents a drop in class, and he makes plenty of appeal with the leading amateur aboard. Oud Metha Bridge is on a potentially favourable mark back on turf but an even bigger threat may be posed by Hawridge Glory, for whom the drop back to a mile may be a good move.

18:25 - Those with experience hardly set an exalted standard and newcomers GRENADIER (6) and BOITRON (1) may be the pair to concentrate on. The market should be revealing but, as things stand, marginal preference is for Grenadier, who represents a yard doing well with their two-year-olds this season and is certainly a likely-looking type on paper. Fox Coach made a promising debut at Newmarket and has been well backed this morning, and looks best of those with experience.

18:55 - There were positives to glean from PONT VERT's (7) C&D debut 16 days ago and, with improvement on the cards, she could be the way to go. The market has spoken in her favour this morning and she is preferred to Starchant, who should pick up a race before long judged on her solid placed efforts at Windsor, and she is a much-respected main danger, for all that this step up in trip poses a question. Newcomer I'lletyougonow is most interesting of the remainder.

19:30 - SWEET CHARITY (4) got the better of a subsequent winner when opening her account at Leicester in May and, not disgraced in a Class 3 Salisbury handicap next time, she is the most appealing of these. Indeed, there should be more to come from this well-bred, lightly-raced filly, and she is taken to get the better of Taurean Dancer, who shapes as though he'll benefit from this step up in trip and is feared most ahead of Flight of Fantasy and Never Surrender.

20:00 - MONOXIDE (9) built on his encouraging debut when runner-up at Sandown last time and, with the promise of even better to come, he is taken to make it third time lucky, likely at the main expense of Orange Suit, who remains with potential and stablemate Daisy Chain also enters calculations. It is also interesting to see Mister Ambassador well backed this morning, as he attracted support when disappointing on debut at Newmarket in April, but is clearly though capable of much better.

20:35 - GENERAL GINGER (3) was unlucky not to finish closer on handicap debut in this sphere at Lingfield last time and, potentially very well-handicapped judged on his jumps form, Harry Fry's charge could be the answer in an open handicap. Outofthequestion deservedly opened his account here recently and is a big danger, while recent Windsor winner Cross My Mind, Leoro and Sufi are all live each-way players.

21:05 - The suspicion remains that NICKLAUS (5) is capable of a good deal better than he's been able to show so far this season and can back that theory up by bagging this prize. Next on the list is Nick Vedder, who has gone close the last twice and his turn is surely near. Vincenzo Coccotti also enters the reckoning.
