Nick Shiambouros ended his last stint in the tipping chair with a 9.8 winner. Nick returns with two fancies from Newbury and Ayr...
"The form of that race has worked out really well, and several horses have gone on to make their mark in Group company"
Back Red Impression at 7.26/1 in the 15:15 at Ayr
A Populaire choice
13:15 Newbury - Populaire
Populaire should go close in this interesting maiden.
This filly caught the eye on debut when finishing fourth to Wejdan over this course last month. She made good progress over a furlong from home and finished the race with good energy without being knocked about. I thought this was a super effort at first asking, and should know a lot more today. She looks like the big improver in this large field, and is fairly priced at 5.69/2 on the exchange.
Tommy Rock attracted heavy support when finishing third to Brad The Brief on debut at Bath last month. He did not get the run of the race, and was gaining on the front two close home. Clive Cox has several fancied runners today, and this one looks the main danger to the selection. At present he is trading at 3.7511/4 on the exchange.
Bet on Red
15:15 Ayr - Red Impression
Red Impression should make her presence felt in this Listed contest.
This filly was last seen at Newbury in May when finishing fifth to the talented Khaadem in a similar event. She held every chance a furlong from home, but ran out of steam in the closing stages. The form of that race has worked out really well, and several horses have gone on to make their mark in Group company. She has since had a wind operation and has had plenty of time to recover. I do not think we have seen the best of this lightly raced individual, and looks super value at 7.613/2 on the exchange.
Que Amoro heads the market at 5.69/2 on the exchange. She won a couple of good handicaps at York in good style and comes in to this race in cracking form. The water is deeper, and she will need a career best to take this. Too short for me.
