Timeform take you through the card at Musselburgh on Saturday...

13:50 - PORTH SWTAN (4) proved better than ever to resume winning ways on his stable debut over C&D earlier this month, in the process giving Garry Moss a winner with just his second runner since resuming his training career. Moss will be hoping to double his tally this afternoon, and while a 3 lb higher mark clearly makes life tougher for Porth Swtan, the four-year-old does appear to have plenty in his favour; indeed, he was arguably value for more than the length he won by last time (forced to wait for a gap over a furlong out), and further improvement cannot be ruled out with that run under his belt.

14:25 - REGGAE RUNNER (6) improved further to get off the mark on his most recent outing at Lingfield in February, putting his experience to good use to score with plenty in hand. The standard-setter here on weight-adjusted ratings, he starts out in handicaps from a potentially lenient mark, with the prospect of more to come after only three starts, and everything looks set fair for another big run, representing the Mark Johnston yard that has excelled with its runners at this venue in recent years (21% strike rate).

15:00 - A MOMENTOFMADNESS (2) and SAVALAS (6) could be the pair to chance against the field in a wide open heat. The former goes well fresh and will be suited by this sharp five furlongs, while Savalas was progressive in the first half of last season and should also be taken seriously, having hit the crossbar in a valuable York handicap off this mark in June. Harome, who has claims judged on his peak 2018 form, and Soldier's Minute complete the shortlist.

15:35 - TOR (11) is a very consistent type and returns to action from a workable mark, having finished a very close third from this mark at Pontefract last summer. He had shaped well over hurdles prior to his latest run on the Flat at Wolverhampton (from a 20 lb lower mark) in January, faring best of those that were ridden close to the pace. The step back up in trip now will suit, and with a promising claimer taking 3 lb off, he has to be considered in a race of this nature.

16:05 - MONT KINABALU (3) was value for extra when taking advantage of a much-reduced mark at Pontefract 11 days ago, meeting trouble in-running entering the final two furlongs and doing well under the circumstances to get the verdict by half a length. A 5 lb rise in the weights here is unlikely to inconvenience him - he has previously won from a BHA mark of 82 - and Tom Eaves is fancied to be celebrating a second successive win on this gelding if he arrives in the same sort of form, with recent Leicester winner Ventura Gold likely to emerge as the chief threat.

16:40 - CLAYTON (3) hasn't contested a race on the Flat for three years, but all is clearly well with the 10-year-old judged on his recent hurdles success at Fakenham, and 7 lb clear of the field on weight-adjusted ratings, this concluding leg of the the Placepot presents a good opportunity on debut for the Archie Watson yard. Apterix and Andok both have points to prove, which leaves Grand Inquisitor as the clear main danger.

17:15 - AMAZING GRAZING (2) failed to land a blow at Wolverhampton last month, but things didn't go his way on that occasion and he's better judged on his near miss there in February. The five-year-old remains on a fair mark and is marginally preferred to Suwaan, who isn't the most genuine of types but he goes well fresh and form figures here read 1323. Super Julius also enters calculations.

17:45 - BURMESE BLAZER (7) ended 2018 on a low-key note, but he's just 1 lb higher than when striking over C&D in August and his form figures here read 321. He gets the nod ahead of Gowanbuster, who has been in good form on the all-weather and will be a big player if able to fire back on turf. Pennsylvania Dutch did the job well at Thirsk and is also feared, along with the unexposed Tabaahy.
