Timeform pick out three bets from Punchestown on Monday.
Sword Fighter - 19:15 Punchestown
Sword Fighter was a near-smart performer on the Flat for Aidan O'Brien and he has been relatively highly tried in his short stint over hurdles. On the book he fared no better dropped back in grade at Ballinrobe last time, but he did seem unsuited by the track, and was outpaced over two furlongs out before staying on well and finishing with running left. As a winner over 2m on the Flat, he promises to be well suited by this step up in trip, and he is fancied to open his account in this sphere, with his handy weight-for-age allowance an added bonus.
Goose Man - 19:45 Punchestown
Goose Man left his hurdling debut form behind when beaten just over four lengths into third at Cork last time, despite an ordinary round of jumping. He was ridden at the end of the back straight, but he responded to pressure well to finish strongly in the closing stages. He clearly has ability, and if he can sort out his jumping, he is very capable of winning a race of this nature. Classic Place was a creditable third last time and could prove the biggest danger, ahead of Sharps Choice, who ran his best race to date at Kilbeggan 10 days ago.
Los Alamos - 20:45 Punchestown
The well-bred Los Alamos showed plenty to work on when finishing third in a Downpatrick bumper on debut this month, and is bound to improve for that experience, having looked green under pressure. He was close up throughout, though had to wait for a gap over two furlongs out, but edging right once getting a run. The second home that day has come out and won since, so the form has a solid look to it, and he is very much one to consider. Vocarium sets the standard following his win here last time, but he will likely find this harder under a penalty.
