Nick Shiambouros struck again when his well backed selection Furzig won at Lingfield. Nick hopes to kick off the new year with two winners from Cheltenham...
"He should be much more at home over today’s shorter trip, and has an excellent chance of recording his fourth victory over the course"
Springtown Lake should go close in this Listed contest.
This gelding finished second to the progressive On The Blind Side in a Grade 2 event at Sandown last month. He was collared two flights from home, but kept on well enough to hold on to the runner-up position. I think the winner could be something special, and there was no disgrace in defeat. He should get back to winning ways in this company, and is reasonably priced at [4.2] on the exchange.
Ainchea could be the danger. He won a Sandown novices' hurdle in good style, and should have more to offer. This is a tougher assignment, but remains an interesting prospect. At present he is trading at [5.1] on the exchange.
Wholestone looks like the horse to beat in this fascinating contest.
This talented performer finished down the field behind Beer Goggles in a warm long distance hurdle at Newbury last month. He had a chance three flights from home, but failed to quicken when the pace lifted and finished well beaten. He should be much more at home over today's shorter trip, and has an excellent chance of recording his fourth victory over the course. He is a strong traveler and will probably trade shorter than his current price of [4.1] on the exchange.
The mare Colin's Sister has finished ahead of the selection twice this term, but that was over a longer trip. It is no surprise to see her at the top of the market at [3.45] but I believe she is more effective over further.
