Timeform on Alma Linda

Back
Alma Linda - 19:00 Kempton

Alma Linda improved for the step up to this trip when getting back to winning ways over C&D 10 days ago, making the running and never really looking in any danger of defeat once shaken up two furlongs out, quickly forging clear to get the verdict by two and a half lengths. An uncomplicated sort, that form leaves her 2 lb clear of the field on weight-adjusted ratings here, even with a 6 lb higher mark taken into account, and it will be disappointing if she can't mount a bold follow-up bid, with the prospect of even more to come for the Sir Mark Prescott yard that heads into the final eight weeks of the season in excellent form (61.5% of runners performing to expectations).

Lay
The Blues Master - 16:20 Worcester

The Blues Master looked to have been found a good opportunity at Bangor last time, but he ultimately proved expensive to follow, comfortably held by his chief market rival at the line. Alan King's charge has shown better form than that, notably when third at Newbury in December 2017, but a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then, with a 519-day absence prior to his return on the Flat at Newcastle in June suggesting that he hasn't been the easiest to train. How much ability he still retains is open to debate, and with his speedy Flat pedigree offering further doubts about his long-term future in this discpline, he looks worth laying - possibly for a place if the price is right - in what looks a deeper race than that he contested at Bangor, the list of dangers headed by Affluence, Josie Abbing and Mr Muldoon.

Smart Stat
Beni Light - 13:50 Worcester

£33.87 - David Rees' profit to a £1 level stake with only one runner on the card (chases)

Beni Light was well backed and duly took advantage of a much-reduced mark (even from 2 lb out of weights) to open his chase account at Uttoxeter on Wednesday, finding plenty in the straight to hold off the runner-up's sustained challenge by a length and a half. Connections have understandably taken the decision to turn him out quickly under a penalty, and, 2 lb clear of his nearest rival on weight-adjusted ratings, he looks sure to take plenty of beating if arriving in the same sort of form, representing the David Rees yard that invariably gets the job done when sending only one runner to a meeting.
