Nick Shiambouros was out of luck yesterday when both his selections traded odds-on in running but could only manage a place. Nick hopes for better luck with two selections from Wolverhampton and Plumpton...
"I think this consistent performer is sitting on a big effort, and will appreciate the extra yardage"
Cheque En Blanc is taken to win again for trainer Gary Moore.
This gelding has won a couple of races this term, and was nicely backed on both occasions. Last time out at Doncaster he displayed a great deal of courage when wearing down Amberjam close home. This likeable individual has no stamina limitations and will handle the testing conditions. I think he has more to offer and is fairly priced at [4.1] on the exchange.
Somerset Jem merits consideration. He was narrowly beaten at Taunton last time out, and is another that will handle the underfoot conditions.
I am going to take a chance with Qaffaal in this handicap.
This gelding had no luck in running when finishing fifth to Goring at Lingfield last month. He was stuck behind horses inside the final furlong, and got no run at all. With a clear run he would have finished closer and probably made the frame. I think this consistent performer is sitting on a big effort, and will appreciate the extra yardage. At present he is trading at [8.2] on the exchange which is more than fair.
Star Archer is the short priced favourite at [2.32]. He won a novice event in good style last month and is lightly raced. He represents high profile connections, and it is no surprise to see him trading so low.
