With domestic action sidelined Nick Shiambouros returns with his expert advice from the US meeting at Turf Paradise tonight...
"This was her best effort in some time and hopefully she can go one better"
A Perfect fit
22:49 R7 Turf Paradise - Perfectly Seasoned
Perfectly Seasoned could run well at a decent price in this optional claimer run on the turf course.
This mare put in a much improved effort when finishing a close second to Holy Mosey over this course last month. She produced a strong run inside the final furlong, and was gaining on the winner close home. This was her best effort in some time and hopefully she can go one better. She should be backed at around [7.0] on the exchange.
The likely favourite is Holy Mosey, who got first run when beating the selection last time out. She has tactical speed, and has the services of Scott Stevens who is an outstanding judge of pace. She is the obvious danger and is worth including in an exacta box with Perfectly Seasoned.
Walk to stroll home
23:18 R8 Turf Paradise - Walk Away
Walk Away should break her maiden in this claimer.
This filly was disappointing last time out when finishing third in a 10k maiden claimer. She moved up to challenge on the home turn, but hung under pressure and could only run on to a place. This was the second consecutive time she had been beaten at odds-on, but drops to the bottom for new trainer Kevin Eikleberry. Blinkers are added, which should help her focus. She should make the lead over this six furlong trip and never look back. Anything above [2.0] should be taken.
Debutant Aloha Marsella merits consideration. This Gio Ponti filly has speed in her pedigree, and trainer Jeff Metz has his string in good form.
