"A subsequent 10 lb rise in the weights could underestimate her..."

Timeform on Mistress Massini

13:45 - The ones with experience don't set an exacting standard, so a chance is taken on SCARAMANGA (6), who posted a useful effort on his final Flat start for James Fanshawe, and having transferred to Paul Nicholls, he could well be up to making a winning hurdles bow. Zizaneur carries a penalty for his win in France and sets a reasonable standard.

14:20 - Going back up in trip will suit ANNIE BONNY (7), who wasn't overly knocked about when fifth in a decent contest at Chepstow last time, and is taken to reverse the placings with the third-placed Field Exhibition. With just a handful of runs under her belt, Evan Williams' charge may be capable of better. Cara's Way is feared most on the back of her Doncaster success.

14:55 - LOUGH DERG SPIRIT (1) was a useful hurdler and has already reached a similar level over fences, landing the odds in a four-runner event on debut in this sphere at Wetherby in October. Although he went backwards from that run on his latest start at Kempton (first run since undergoing a wind operation), that race is proving very strong, with the second and fourth both winning their next starts. This looks a good opportunity for Lough Derg Spirit to get his head back in front in what doesn't look as strong of a race. Stamp Your Feet may prove best of the remainder.

15:25 - This looks interesting with Dieu Benisse and ASHUTOR (2) making plenty of appeal, but preference is for the latter, who is starting out for a top yard having been a near-smart performer on the Flat in France. Dieu Benisse looked held in second when falling at the last on her hurdling debut at Wetherby on Boxing Day, and seems sure to come on for that, but in the shape of Ashutor she could meet a potentially above-average type, and he is worth chancing given Paul Nicholls' record with such types.

16:00 - MISTRESS MASSINI (6) won with plenty in hand at Catterick last time, following up her Ludlow success seven days earlier and proving herself well ahead of her mark. A subsequent 10 lb rise in the weights could underestimate her, and a bold bid is expected now in search of a hat-trick. Market Road got back to winning ways at Leicester 18 days ago and is feared most.

16:30 - TODD (6) is holding his form well at present, winning a handicap over this trip with the cheekpieces back on at Fakenham last month and was far from disgraced when finishing runner-up over the same C&D last time. He holds no secrets from the handicapper, and has been raised a further 1 lb in the weights, but he seems sure to run his race once more. That might be good enough to come out on top in this field and he is the most interesting proposition under a capable amateur.
