Through The Card: Lingfield, Saturday 16 February

Lingfield racecourse
There's six races on the All-Weather at Lingfield this afternoon

Timeform take you through the card at Lingfield on Saturday...

"..considering he's a long way clear of the field on the form he's shown so far, he should take some stopping."

Timeform on Derry Boy

13:30 - FIRST LINK (3) is lightly raced for a four-year-old, and she got off the mark at the sixth attempt over a furlong shorter here last month, running wide around the home turn, but staying on to lead close home. She's still unexposed, meaning that a 5 lb rise is unlikely to prevent a follow up bid. It's a competitive heat, though, and Big Bad Lol, Herm and Jai Hanuman are all worthy of consideration.

14:05 - DERRY BOY (1) has improved in each of his three starts to date, and the seven furlong trip didn't get to the bottom of him when second at Kempton last time out. The step up to a mile will suit him down to the ground, and considering he's a long way clear of the field on the form he's shown so far, he should take some stopping. Reggae RUnner is an improving type and is respected, while Chop Chop is another to consider.

14:40 - ALSVINDER (5) didn't fire when last of nine on his most recent start at Chelmsford last month, but he is best excused that effort, considering that he was slowly into stride that day after trying to anticipate the start. He's a very solid performer when things go his way, however, and with a weak pace forecast, he is likely to get ane asy lead at the front. He's only 2 lb higher than his last success, and it would be no surprise should his rivals fail to peg him back.

15:15 - SPRING ROMANCE (3) was very much an improver last season, winning four of his seven starts in 2018, and he looked one worth backing next time out when second on his most recent start at Wolverhampton last summer, when not seen to best effect having made his challenge very wide. He won this time last year after a six month break, and he can repeat the feat this time around. The in-form Joegogo is the biggest threat to the selection.

15:50 - NONIOS (2) was value for a bit extra when returning to winning ways over C&D a fortnight ago, being produced to lead a furlong out before hanging right and idling. Raised just 2 lb for that, he looks a good bet to follow up that success, and he is taken to do so at the expense of Ismomer, who just failed to reel in the selection last time and may be set for the same fate.

16:25 - MISS GREEN DREAM (8) is still a maiden after eight starts, but she ran her best race yet when finishing third here last month, and looks worthy of supporting in this over a longer trip on her first start for Julia Fielden, considering that there's plenty of stamina on her dam's side of her pedigree. Comeonfeeltheforce is likely to be in the shake-up if things fall her way, while Hammy End isn't badly bred so may do better now venturing into handicaps.
