Timeform take you through the card at Leicester on Thursday...

14:20 - MAKING HISTORY (1) produced comfortably the best effort of his short career to date when third at Windsor last time, no match for the winner Golden Horde - who has since finished fifth in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot - but keeping on well enough in his own right to suggest that a BHA mark of 74 is a workable one now switching to handicaps. Indeed, that form leaves him 2 lb clear of the field on weight-adjusted ratings, and with the prospect of even more to come over this extra furlong, he looks a good bet to open his account at the fourth attempt in this opening leg of the Placepot, representing the Saeed bin Suroor yard that continues in top form (six winners from last 21 runners).

14:50 - VENTURA BAY (3) and Forseti are closely matched in form terms at the weights and stand out from the others, so they'll probably fight this out, with the first-named perhaps most likely to prevail if he gets his own way in front. Luna Princess is the pick of the remainder.

15:20 - LOOK CLOSELY (5) made plenty of appeal on paper and duly offered plenty to work on when fifth on his debut at Newmarket last month, simply unable to sustain his move from the back in a steadily-run race, having displayed signs of greenness throughout. The bare form of that effort gives him plenty to find with the standard-setting Dramatic Device on weight-adjusted ratings, but he looks the sort who could prove a different proposition with that initial experience under his belt, and, representing the Roger Varian/Andrea Atzeni combination that continues to go from strength to strength (23% strike rate when teaming up this season), this looks a good opportunity for him to get off the mark at the second time of asking.

15:50 - REGGAE RUNNER (2) enjoyed the run of the race when successful on his most recent outing at Bath, but there was still lots to like about his performance, displaying a good attitude when challenged from two out and ultimately well on top at the line. Mark Johnston's charge certainly showed enough to suggest that he can remain competitive from a 3 lb higher mark, and with no obvious competition for the lead this time round, either, he is likely to take some pegging back when things get tough in the straight, at a venue that has been kind to his trainer in recent years (22% strike rate). Silkstone had been going the right way prior to his latest effort and is feared most, ahead of Mr Tyrrell.

16:20 - GENTLEWOMAN (4) has run well the last twice and this seems like a simpler task for John Gosden's filly, so she's taken to prevail under a positive ride, with Dashed considered the main danger with first-time headgear a positive. Eula Varner could come into it if it's a truly-run affair, too.

16:50 - SAUCHIEHALL STREET (3) had finished placed in a couple of novice hurdles before shaping well back on the Flat at Lingfield last time, patently failing to see out the two-mile trip having travelled as well as any for much of the journey. He certainly left the impression that he is coming to the boil, and now 5 lb lower than when recording his last win, everything looks set fair for a big run, especially dropping back to a more suitable trip. Affluence landed a bit of a touch at Yarmouth a fortnight ago and looks best of the rest from only 2 lb higher, while Mistress Nellie is another to note in an interesting heat to conclude today's Placepot.

17:25 - EVENING ATTIRE (4) ran with credit again here last time and this doesn't look as strong a race. A C&D winner, he's taken to end his losing run, with First Excel and Case Key a couple of the dangers.
