Timeform take you through the card at Kempton on Wednesday evening...

"...Rod Millman's charge looks well up to winning a race of this nature..."

Timeform on Sir Roderic

18:00 - BEYOND REASON (1) posted an encouraging second on her debut at Newmarket last month and should have learnt plenty from that experience. She can go one better in this opening leg of the Placepot. Oona also looks bound to come on from her promising Windsor racecourse bow and rates the main danger, whilst Miss President looks the pick of an interesting bunch of newcomers.

18:30 - SIR RODERIC (4) benefited from the drop back in trip and did well under the circumstances when third on his most recent outing at York, faring much the best of those ridden close to the pace. He hasn't always delivered on what he has promised in recent seasons, but his effort couldn't be knocked last time and Rod Millman's charge looks well up to winning a race of this nature, dropping back into 0-75 company this evening. Ptarmigan Ridge and Loujain complete the shortlist in an open heat.

19:00 - RED MIST (2) wasn't seen to best effect when last seen in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster in September, but remains low-mileage and is taken to make a successful reappearance. Mubhij and Perisher are interesting newcomers, whilst Ask The Dude may well come on from his promising course debut in March.

19:30 - INSURGENCE (1) continues to improve and ran a cracker when just foiled in his hat-trick bid at Lingfield last month. He remains potentially well treated from just 2 lb higher tonight and is taken to score again. Balletomane and Tight Lines look the most likely dangers.

20:00 - TRADING PUNCHES (6) isn't the easiest to catch right, but there has been nothing wrong with his two performances so far in 2018, simply finding one too good on both occasions and unlucky to bump into a progressive sort at Newcastle last time. That form is working out well with the third running out a comfortable winner of his next start at Chester and, with William Buick taking over in the saddle, Trading Punches appears to have plenty in his favour here and makes most appeal with the Placepot in mind.

20:30 - DENMEAD (4) looked like he will continue to progress when second in a competitive York handicap last time out and a repeat of that effort should see him go close in this concluding leg of the Placepot for the in-form John Butler. The Way You Dance will pose a significant threat under a penalty, whilst Quothquan is a consistent performer who is always one to consider to make the frame in these events.

21:00 - MAGIC MIRROR (6) was a little unlucky last time in a much more competitive race at Newmarket when not ideally placed. She thrived here over the winter and can continue her progression at the expense of some less exposed rivals in the finale.
