"He knew his job, and there were positives to be gleaned from how he held off one with previous experience..."

Timeform on Sporting Chance

17:40 - Not a previous winner in the field and NAVARRA PRINCESS (6) could be the one to get off the mark having caught the eye when well backed and third over an inadequate five furlongs last time. Noteworthy is a leading player also returned to a more suitable trip, and has been given a chance by the handicapper, while First Breath could do better now handicapping.

18:10 - SPIRIT KINGDOM (6) made a highly-encouraging debut at Brighton last week, finishing third in a strongly-run race, and will be hard to beat if building on that as expected for a yard that continue to do well with their juveniles. Alma Linda is bred to make an impact first time up and represents last year's winning yard who also had another successful two-year-old newcomer recently.

18:40 - SPORTING CHANCE (1) was strong in the market for his debut and duly made a winning start at Wolverhampton at the end of May. He knew his job, and there were positives to be gleaned from how he held off one with previous experience. The third has come out and won since, and he is taken to follow up under a penalty. Typhoon Ten and Abate are newcomers to note, while Hard Forest probably won't be far away again.

19:10 - CONNEMERA QUEEN (5) was galvanised by the fitting of headgear when returning to winning ways here last time and is still on a workable mark. She is taken to follow up, likely at the main expense of Incentive, who arrives in fine heart and is feared most, ahead of handicap debutante Poyle Charlotte is also of interest.

19:40 - It could be worth giving another chance to SERGIO LEONE (12), who was disappointing on turf last time but had made a fine reappearance at Lingfield (form proving strong) previously. He still looks on a decent mark, and is preferred to the in-form Sir Plato, who looks sure to make his presence felt again, whilst Ptarmigan Ridge also enters calculations.

20:10 - ESKENDASH (11) shaped well on several occasions in handicaps last season and has run consistently well over hurdles since. He gets the vote in a race where plenty hold claims, including Dawn Choir who could be dangerous on her debut for Roger Charlton, particularly if the market speaks in her favour, whilst Rubensian and Fire Tree are also respected.

20:40 - MOANS CROSS (8) left this season's previous efforts behind when runner-up over C&D a fortnight ago and remains lightly raced for his age. He makes fair appeal in the finale. Knight Commander, Wildomar and Bird For Life make up the shortlist.
