"...a narrow leader on weight-adjusted ratings here with the prospect of even more to come given his generally progressive profile..."

Timeform on Lexington Empire

17:55 - KINGDOM OF DUBAI (9) shaped better than the bare result when fourth on his most recent outing at Wolverhampton, forced to deliver his challenge from further back than ideal in a slowly-run race and doing well under the circumstances to finish as close as he did (beaten less than two lengths), with the first three all benefiting from more positive rides. He certainly showed enough to suggest that he is on a fair mark at present, and meeting the winner Capofaro on 4 lb better terms here, it would be no surprise to see him reverse the placings, representing the Roger Varian yard that has a healthy 21% strike rate at Kempton.

18:25 - MERCHANT OF VENICE (2) has been prolific over this C&D throughout the winter, recording a pair of wins, and he can be forgiven a below-form effort at Ascot, when he was positioned towards the unfavoured near side in a big-field handicap. Returning to the all-weather, he can get his head back in front with the booking of Oisin Murphy catching the eye. Nahham is a progressive, unexposed opponent who may give him most to think about, ahead of the similarly lightly-raced One Cool Daddy.

18:55 - HOTSY TOTSY (2) has been found a decent opportunity to make it two wins from three runs. She was impressive at Salisbury earlier in the month and should have no problems under a penalty against a weaker field, representing the Ed Walker yard that continues in top form, capped by Stormy Antarctic's Group 2 win in Italy on Sunday. Venusta has shown signs of ability and may follow her home, with Foxes Flyer best of the rest.

19:25 - DUBAI ROMANCE (3) might prove best of the newcomers here in a very warm novice event. She represents a yard that has done well with its juveniles in the run up to Royal Ascot, a half-sister to multple winners, it would be no surprise if she proved up to making a winning debut. Brazen Safa sets the standard on her Brighton win but this will be harder. Dream Kart is another newcomer that looks promising along with Sneaky.

19:55 - LEXINGTON EMPIRE (5) improved again to rout his rivals and make a winning reappearance at Chelmsford five weeks ago, making light of a seven-month absence as he drew clear in the straight to win by four and a half lengths. Clearly, a 10 lb hike in the weights makes life tougher, but there could still a bit of room for manoeuvre from a handicapping perspective, a narrow leader on weight-adjusted ratings here with the prospect of even more to come given his generally progressive profile. Of the remainder, Harbour Breeze is progressing well and shouldn't be inconvenienced by the longer trip as he looks to add to his Newcastle win, so could be the one to give the selection most to do.

20:25 - A comfortable winner of his penultimate outing at Southwell, CROESO CYMRAEG (7) found further improvement to follow up in a minor event at Chelmsford last time, coming from a less-than-ideal position (held up in a slowly-run race) to score with a bit in hand. That form leaves him 2 lb clear of the field on weight-adjusted ratings now reverting to handicaps, and still relatively unexposed for a five-year-old, he looks difficult to oppose in his current mood, with a stronger pace than last time likely to see him to even better effect. Lady Authority, who looks well-in under a penalty for her Wolverhampton success, and Qayed complete the shortlist in this concluding leg of the Placepot.

20:55 - LITTLE PALAVER (1) won over six furlongs here back in January and has been running creditably ever since. Returning to Kempton, he holds strong claims off top weight in the finale. Chloellie will be a big danger over this C&D with Silvestre de Sousa in the saddle, while Coverham is another C&D winner who should be involved in the finish.
