17:40 - FIRST THOUGHT (3) was well backed and belatedly came good when winning by six lengths over this C&D last week. Admittedly, that was a weak race, but the manner of his victory was impressive, and he is 4 lb well in turned out under a 6 lb penalty. There are a host of unexposed types in opposition, including Korcho, who appears to have been brought along with handicaps in mind, but First Thought looks the one to be with.
18:15 - RING DANCER (5) may be the safest bet in this event, as he ran with credit at Newcastle on his debut earlier in the month, and shaped as though he'll improve with time. Mark of Approval could prove to be far superior than his rivals if he repeats his early-2017 form, but a 507 day absence is significant and he is short enough in the betting. Alfarqad is another that has had a lot of time off that could get involved.
18:45 - STEALTH FIGHTER (1) only won an uncompetitive event at Beverley on debut earlier this month, but he shaped as though he would improve from that, and looks the one to beat under a penalty in what doesn't look the strongest race of its type. Kings Highway did little wrong on his debut either, and has proved he is effective over this C&D, while Sir Prize makes some appeal on pedigree on his racecourse debut.
19:15 - Very hard to get away from the claims of BUFFALO RIVER (1), who sets a fairly useful standard having finished placed in two turf maidens so far, and should prove very hard to beat. There a several debutants who make appeal on paper, perhaps none more so than the Sir Michael Stoute-trained Laafy, who cost $150,000 as a yearling and represents a top yard.
19:45 - SAN DONATO (3) had shaped well on debut behind the subsequent Gimcrack runner-up Legends of War first time out and back in calmer waters, having contested the Chesham on his second start, he very much got back on track to get off the mark in a minor event at Haydock earlier this month and again looks the one to beat. Lady Madison is another last-time-out winner who may improve further, while Scottish Blade makes the most appeal of the debutants.
20:15 - GIVING GLANCES (3) looked a filly who would progress further when winning at Lingfield and Leicester earlier in the summer, and the softer ground may have caught her out at Goodwood last time. She is taken to get back on track returned to the all-weather, likely at the main expense of Volcanic Sky and Envoy, who has had a light campaign and may be fresher than some.
20:45 - BREATH CAUGHT (3) has proved consistent in all four of his starts this season and, given he arrives here fresh after a two-month break following a respectable effort behind the progressive Dancetaria last time, he makes the most appeal on his polytrack debut in what looks a fascinating contest. Spanish Archer makes his handicap debut, and whilst he doesn't look thrown in, he should have more to offer, while Autumn War is an unexposed colt who commands respect, too.
21:15 - TWO SEAS (8) has fewer miles on the clock than a lot of these and may come on for his recent outing at Newcastle. The return to six furlongs combined with first-time blinkers may be enough to see him get his head in front. Saguaro is a interesting handicap debutante who improved for a drop to this trip under positive tactics last time. Atlanta Belle would also have a chance on the pick of her form.
