"He looks sure to be thereabouts if reproducing anything like his best form..."

17:55 - BILL CODY (1) wasn't seen to best effect here on Friday, left poorly placed and keeping on well under the circumstances to be beaten just two and three quarter lengths. He could still have more to offer after just five starts and is certainly worth another chance to build on his promising handicap debut. Barnay was a good second over C&D last week and is next best, ahead of Freebe Rocks, in this opening leg of the Placepot.

18:30 - SACRED ACT (1) has been knocking on the door this winter and produced arguably her best effort to date when a close third at Lingfield last time, never nearer than at the finish. She has certainly shown enough to suggest she is up to winning a race of this nature and shades the vote from Princess de Lune, who looked potentially useful in a light campaign for Roger Charlton last season, in what should prove to be an interesting match race.

19:00 - LITTLE MISS KODI (6) responded well to a tongue strap when a close third at Lingfield last week, hitting the front entering the final furlong before two more patiently ridden rivals swooped by. Surprisingly, she has been dropped 3 lb on the back of that effort and would appear to hold sound claims of regaining the winning thread if arriving in the same mood. Pulsating should give another good account along with Very Honest.

19:30 - WARM OASIS (3) was value for more than the official winning margin when getting off the mark at Newcastle last time, forced to deliver his challenge from further back than ideal in a steadily-run race, and doing well, all things considered, to run down a fairly useful sort close home. He starts out in handicaps from what looks a fair mark and should prove a tough nut to crack for James Fanshawe, with the possibility of more to come if his kinks can be ironed out (carried head high/hung left last time).

20:00 - FIFTYSHADESOFGREY (1) has now dropped to a mark 6 lb lower than when recording his last victory at Goodwood in May 2015 and this is a much weaker race than when finishing a respectable ninth after seven months off here last time. With that run under his belt, he looks sure to be thereabouts if reproducing anything like his best form, and makes most appeal with the Placepot in mind. Bobby Wheeler needs to settle better under his young claimer than he did here a fortnight ago but is clearly on a good mark, while Mr Bossy Boots could also figure.

20:30 - WESTERN WAY (2) relished the step up to two miles when successful on his most recent outing at Chelmsford, needing the full extent of it to see him come home in front for the first time on the Flat. A 3 lb rise in the weights for that is more that fair and, with Adam Kirby in the saddle again, Western Way rates the clear one to beat granted a stiff test of stamina, that clearly his strong suit (stays 3¼m over jumps). Ruler of The Nile is on a workable mark and could be the one to give the selection most to do.
