14:10 - RISK AND ROLL (7) is better than he showed when only fifth at Fontwell recently, and makes most appeal for Placepot purposes in the absence of City Dreamer, with Jumping Jack feared most of the remainder.

14:40 - FREE STONE HILL (6) is fancied to make his experience count and can build on his Fontwell second with success in this second leg of the Placepot. Bach de Clermont and Siruh du Lac both appeal as the type to do well over fences, while Movie Legend should go well again if ready to roll on his return.

15:15 - AMOUR DE NUIT (1) showed improved form when second at Chepstow last time, looming up two furlongs out and keeping on well thereafter to be beaten just one and a quarter lengths. The way he travelled that day suggests the drop back to two miles here will be in his favour and, though there is little to separate him and Listen To The Man on form, this represents a marked drop in class for Amour de Nuit, and he is taken to resume winning ways under Sam Twiston-Davies.

15:50 - PEARLS LEGEND (4) ran creditably after six months off the track when second at Fontwell recently, and remains potentially well treated on the pick of his efforts. Indeed, he can race from a mark 4 lb lower than when winning at Cheltenham back in December 2015 and, with that first outing of the season likely to bring about plenty of improvement, John Spearing's charge certainly looks the one to beat. Marracudja goes well fresh and looks best of the rest on his handicap debut.

16:20 - SAN BENEDETO (5) did really well over fences last term, and is fancied to make a winning return to hurdling in this penultimate leg of the Placepot. Stablemate Old Guard and the front-running Rayvin Black may prove best of the remainder.

16:50 - BETTER DAYS (2) is prone to the odd stinker despite his good wins-to-runs ratio and, though strong in the betting, disappointed after five months off the track at Market Rasen last time. The type to bounce back quickly, he represents the Nigel Twiston-Davies yard that has a terrific record in this race, and looks capable of recouping losses from his reappearance. Ramore Will has thrived in four starts for the Chris Gordon stable and is expected to give the selection most to do.

17:20 - PRESENT MAN (4) quickly developed into a useful chaser last term and could be the way to go on return with his yard going great guns.

Placepot permutation:

14:10 - 7
14:40 - 6
15:15 - 1
15:50 - 4
16:20 - 5
16:50 - 2
