Timeform on Soldier's Minute

Timeform take you through the card at Kempton on Saturday afternoon...

13:35 - SUCELLUS (1) was an impressive winner on debut at Wolverhampton in December when scoring by half a length, considering that he can be rated as a far more superior winner considering he overcame greenness and came from a long way back in a modestly run affair. There looks to be plenty more to come from him yet, and he ought to have far too much for today's opposition for his powerful connections. Living Legend and Sawasdee are two improving types who can give the selection most to think about.

14:05 - MATTERHORN (6) has been imperious on the all-weather over the winter, completing a five-timer in great style over C&D just over three weeks ago, and giving the firm impression that he was ready for a Group race. He's got plenty more to offer his top connections yet, meaning the step into listed company shouldn't be an issue, and he should prove a tough nut to crack. The consistent pair of Fabricate and Big Country can take advantage if the favourite under-performs.

14:40 - SOLDIER'S MINUTE (10) was well-backed when returning to winning ways over C&D a week ago, sprinting clear and improving a chunk to record his first win since his two-year-old campaign back in 2017. It's likely that his gelding operation has sparked the resurgence, and while this is tougher, it was hard not to be impressed by Soldier's Minute last week, and he's taken to shrug off a 10 lb rise and follow up. Things didn't go George Bowen's way at Lingfield last time but he's a big threat judged on his reappearance effort, while Aeolus is another to consider.

15:15 - FORBIDDEN PLANET (14) shaped well when in pursuit of a hat-trick over this trip at Chelmsford last month, only being beaten by a thriving sort who was better suited by the emphasis on speed on the day. It's likely that Forbidden Planet will continue improving yet, though, particularly when his stamina is brought into play, and he's fancied to make it three wins from his last four starts. Kelly's Dino, Cosmeapolitan and Desert Wind are three to consider in opposition in a highly competitive heat.

15:50 - DAARIK (2) was too bad to be true on his debut at Nottingham last May, and was much improved when getting off the mark at the second attempt at Newcastle in November, staying on to lead inside the final 50 yards. He's certain to stay the extra furlong today, and with lots more improvement to come, he can take this. The more experienced Chatham House sets a solid standard and is respected, while Eardley Road is another to consider after making a winning debut last time.

16:25 - WELCOMING (5) was a progressive two-year-old last season, improving on each of her three starts, and getting off the mark at the third attempt at Haydock in October, winning comfortably by four lengths. Her opening BHA-mark of 81 looks as though it could underestimate her ability, and she's fancied to strike. Liberation Day is the obvious danger to the selection in pursuit of a hat-trick.

17:00 - Something of a muddling race despite there being plenty of solid recent form to work with, but the most appealing one here is ILHABELA FACT (4), who's thriving at the moment, completing a double here last month. He left the firm impression that we're yet to see the best of him when winning most recently, and he's fancied to shrug off a 6 lb rise and complete the hat-trick.
