16:00 - LOCAL HISTORY (10) offered plenty to work on when fifth starting out at Yarmouth a month ago and, given the sixth won next time, it's probably reasonable form. With progress on the cards, she can make use of the weight she receives from Wedding Date and Yolo Again.

16:30 - SILVER RIVER (2) and Arch My Boy have to concede at least 7 lb to the rest having won their most recent starts, but both were impressive and could well be up to the task. The former's pedigree is an ongoing recommendation and he's just preferred for the Saeed bin Suroor yard that can boast a 23% strike rate at Kempton.

17:00 - CAVATINA (4) was well backed and duly proved better than ever after seven weeks off when second over C&D last time, quickening to lead over a furlong out and only losing out in the dying strides. William Haggas' charge is slowly putting together a good record on this surface, having also shed her maiden tag over this C&D last season, and the booking of James Doyle - replacing the 7 lb claimer who rode her last time - could just give her the extra edge she needs to get back to winning ways, still only 4 lb higher than when recording her latest success at Leicester (impressively) in May.

17:30 - MANTON GRANGE (6) shaped encouragingly after nine weeks off and a breathing operation at Ascot last month, no match for the winner but keeping on well to grab second in the final furlong. That was just his third start of the season overall, and he appears to have plenty in his favour as he attempts to go one better this evening, a fresh horse who is 2 lb clear of the field on weight-adjusted ratings, having taken to this surface really when when producing a career best to win over seven furlongs here last season.

18:00 - BUZZ (1) shaped as if still in good form when fifth in the November Handicap at Doncaster last time, forced to deliver his challenge from further back than ideal in a steadily-run race, and doing well under the circumstances to finish as close as he did. Much improved when winning at Newbury the time before, he certainly showed enough last time to suggest that he remains on a fair mark and, unbeaten in three previous starts at this venue, Hughie Morrison's charge looks sure to take all the beating in a valuable contest.

18:30 - SUNBLAZER (5) won a C&D handicap from 4 lb lower in December and, fit from a spell on turf, is expected to make a very bold bid with James Doyle a positive booking for him, too. Alfredo is four from four on the all-weather and is feared most in this concluding leg of the Placepot.

19:00 - BLACK ISLE BOY (3) found 1m too much of a test at Newcastle 10 days ago, but that run suggests he's back in good nick and he's certainly weighted to strike back over seven furlongs. Mayyasah should remain competitive at this level, while headgear may help Grey Galleon.
