Timeform on Royal Aide

A NEW DAWN - 14:40 Curragh

A NEW DAWN proved better than ever when second in a Group 3 over seven furlongs here two weeks ago, eventually wearing down one who looked sure to win a furlong out, only to be collared herself by one staying on even more strongly. That form comfortably sets the standard in this line-up - she is 7 lb clear of the promising Auxilia on weight-adjusted ratings - and it will be disappointing if she can't make the most of a good opportunity in these calmer waters under Donnacha O'Brien, who continues to go great guns in his battle with Colin Keane for the jockeys' championship in Ireland (six winners from his last 16 rides).

MARY SALOME - 15:50 Curragh

MARY SALOME shaped better than the bare result when finishing in mid-division in a competitive handicap here last month, doing the best of those who raced in the smaller group nearest the stands. Madeleine Tylicki's charge has produced several of her best efforts with give in the ground, and, now 2 lb lower than when beaten less than a length over C&D in August, she could be worth chancing in an open heat. Ardhoomey and Medicine Jack both rate as significant dangers from the Ger Lyons yard.

ROYAL AIDE - 16:25 Curragh

ROYAL AIDE arrives in pursuit of a hat-trick, having followed up his Killarney win in comfortable fashion at Bellewstown last time. He has looked progressive since entering handicaps and his pedigree suggests he can keep rising up the ranks. The question mark with him is the trip, yet to race beyond a mile and a half, but he is by Galileo and out of a mare that stayed a mile and a half, so there is some hope on pedigree. Royal Aide looks one of the most progressive horses in the field and, if he does stay this much longer, he seems sure to take plenty of beating. Nessun Dorma and Newcross are fancied to emerge as the chief threats in an open heat.
