Killarney's July Festival continues and features Tuesday's Irish Smartplays.
"Stay De Night made a big impression when scoring at odds-on on debut..."
Stay De Night made a big impression when scoring at odds-on on debut and with trainer Dermot Weld in his usual hot form at this time of year he is entitled to improve past today's exposed rivals in the 18:30. Harley's Harley may offer the greatest challenge having been in good heart of late, but seems best on a softer surface and needs to be forgiven his most recent run at the Curragh.
The feature handicap chase at 20:00 is a competitive affair, as you'd expect. Nearly Nama'd didn't set the world alight over hurdles, but made a promising chasing debut last time out and has the most scope in the field. Dangers abound, though. Loosen My Load evidently retains plenty of ability, Ted Veale is dropping in class and C&D scorer Boxer Beat comes here with strong claims after a sharpener on the Flat earlier in the month. With such a deep field, an each-way bet is advised on Nearly Nama'd.
Some exciting novice chasers clash in the 21:00, with Willie Mullins' Alelchi Inois heading the market following a impressive debut at Tramore. This is much more of a challenge however as Domination has been in fine fettle on the Flat having won at Royal Ascot last time and has course form that could prove key at this idiosyncratic track. He's probably a more solid option than the favourite, so go each-way in order to claw something back even if Mullins' charge proves too strong.
