The Listowel Harvest Festival continues apace and Timeform provide you with three bets...
it wouldn't be a surprise were Dermot Weld capable of coaxing a bit more improvement out of his lightly-raced three-year-old, Intisaab.
We turn to Dermot Weld for our first bet on Thursday as he saddles Intisaab in the opening extended six-furlong maiden at 14:05. Chief market rival Chiclet sets the standard based on a good second at Dundalk last time but she has had plenty of rolls of the dice - still a maiden after 11 starts - and Intisaab is relatively unexposed having made just the three starts. Intisaab was poorly drawn at Bellewstown last time, but he still produced a creditable effort, only collared close home, and it wouldn't be a surprise were Dermot Weld capable of coaxing a bit more improvement out of his lightly-raced three-year-old.
Vaxalco and Benemeade set the standard in the 22-furlong beginners' chase at 16:05, but Security Breach was a useful hurdler and is surely capable of better than he showed on his bow in this sphere at Killarney last month. Security Breach was strong in the betting at Killarney but proved to be a disappointment, his jumping falling apart in the closing stages. Whether he will be able to reproduce the useful level of form he showed over hurdles remains something of a question mark, but he is worth another chance and is entitled to improve for the initial experience.
Our final selection runs in the feature two-mile handicap hurdle at 16:35 as we side with the Tony Martin-trained Pires. Pires has been in good form this term and he finished runner-up to Fosters Cross over fences at the Galway Festival prior to winning back over hurdles at Down Royal, scoring with a fair bit in hand as he travelled well before putting the race to bed in decisive fashion. Tony Martin's admirably consistent 10-year-old is well weighted in this sphere and looks sure to give a good account.
