Timeform Irish SmartPlays: Thursday November 27

It's a big day for Willie Mullins at Thurles
It's a big day for Willie Mullins at Thurles

Un de Sceaux is the star act at Thurles this afternoon, but Timeform look elsewhere for top three bets on the card...

Thurles 12:50 - Federici

A big field go to post in the 22-furlong handicap chase but Federici has a relatively-unexposed profile and looks to have an excellent chance, arriving here on the back of two creditable efforts, including when finishing runner-up here last time. Federici was no match for the winner, but he pulled clear of the rest and shaped as if he is still on a fair mark.

Thurles 13:25 - Phil's Magic

It's no surprise to see Willie Mullins' French import Max Dynamite put in at a short price, bearing in mind his connections and the smart level he achieved on the Flat, but Phil's Magic shaped like a winner waiting to happen when finishing runner-up at Naas and could offer a spot of value. Phil's Magic was successful in a bumper at Tipperary, showing fairly useful form in the process, and he put up an encouraging performance back over hurdles when giving chase to a potentially useful prospect. He can come on for that run and looks sure to give a good account.

Thurles 15:10 - Fort Carson

Fort Carson took a step back in the right direction when finishing fourth over C&D three weeks ago, and looks to have been found a decent opportunity here, coming up against a number of rivals who haven't looked in the greatest of heart recently. Fort Carson is yet to win, but he did catch the eye last time with the late headway that he made, appealing as the sort of horse that could defy this lowly mark.
