A Group-race card at Gowran Park provides the action on Sunday.
"We think Brooch is the likeliest winner of the Group 3 for fillies at 15:55, though not to the extent the market portrays."
We start in the second division of the mile handicap (15:25). Sister Slew has changed hands since winning a Laytown claimer for Gordon Elliott, and is respected, though a repeat of Corker Hill's recent runner-up effort starting out for this yard at Bellewstown under this claimer may well be enough for her to get off the mark. Hoppsan and Wagadoogoochoochoo (the latter winner of this race 12 months ago) complete the shortlist.
We think Brooch is the likeliest winner of the Group 3 for fillies at 15:55, though not to the extent the market portrays. The knock-on effect is that the dangers are generally priced on the generous side and we'd therefore recommend an each-way bet on Odeliz, our idea of the next-best. Odeliz has placed in several races of similar or slightly-higher standard this year, so we think the place part of that bet is fairly safe and it then becomes a question of whether she can hold off the improving Brooch.
The following apprentice handicap (16:25) is a difficult one. However, Russian Maria Star turned in her best effort yet when fifth in maiden company last week despite a troubled passage, and with this step up in trip promising to suit now handicapping, she could be the answer at tasty odds. Knights Templar and Stynes are feared most.
