Timeform Irish SmartPlays: Sunday August 30

There's fantastic racing at the Curragh on Sunday

There's a high-class day of racing at the Curragh on Sunday and Timeform have identified three bets.

This looks an easier task and the likeable Brooch can bounce back to winning ways.

Curragh 14:35 - Miss Katie Mae

Miss Katie Mae sets the standard in this listed race based on an excellent second against the colts in the Group 3 Anglesey Stakes last time, and she's likely to give a good account here. The marked step up in trip is a slight question mark against Miss Katie Mae, whilst she faces some interesting challengers, notably How High The Moon, but she's got the best form in the book and was actually unlucky not to win last time having met trouble when attempting to launch her challenge.

Curragh 15:45 - Smash Williams

The Jim Bolger-trained Smash Williams looked something out of the ordinary when storming to victory in a 24-runner C&D maiden on his debut here last week and he can take this step up in class in his stride. Smash Williams may not have the most fashionable of pedigrees, but he clearly possesses plenty of ability and is in the right hands to realise his potential, so he looks destined for big things.

Curragh 16:20 - Brooch

Brooch has to concede weight all round, but Dermot Weld's filly looks up to the task. Having strung together a sequence of four wins, Brooch lost her unbeaten record in the Pretty Polly Stakes, but she wasn't disgraced in that Group 1 contest, while she ran creditably attempting to give plenty of weight to progressive three-year-old Wedding Vow here last time. This looks an easier task and the likeable Brooch can bounce back to winning ways.
