Monday's Irish Smartplays come from the mixed card at Ballinrobe.
"There is a distinct lack of quality in the handicap hurdle at 20:05, which should leave the door open for top-weight Jabus."
On his best flat form, the 10-year-old Benash should be winning the 17:35, but he may be vulnerable to a race-fit rival after 233 days off and the unexposed High Stratos could be the one. Though failing to shine when having his first run over hurdles last time out, he has two bumper wins to his name and, being by Montjeu, has plenty of scope for improvement on the Flat. Pat Smullen is an eye-catching booking for winning hurdler Bridgequarter Girl, but she failed to win a bumper and lacks the Flat potential of the selection.
There is a distinct lack of quality in the handicap hurdle at 20:05, which should leave the door open for top-weight Jabus. This eight-year-old is no world-beater, but showed enough behind Sizing Solution last time out to suggest he should be capable of winning this off the same mark. The opposition looks moderate to say the least, though Paul Townend may help revive serial loser Valours Minion.
Killiney Court has faced some stiff opposition in maidens so far and kicked well clear of the pack when a close second to The Parishioner on his last run. With nothing of any notable quality in opposition today, he is entitled to get off the mark. Steel King has potential for improvement after just four starts and should chase the selection home.
