The Timeform Irish team aim to continue their recent run of good form with three more selections for tonight's meeting at Naas....
it may pay to side with the Aidan O’Brien-trained Betterbetterbetter
It would be fair to say that the David Marnane-trained July Revolution (19:30) didn't exactly set the world alight when contesting three maidens at the turn of the year. However, he improved markedly for a switch to handicaps when landing a 12-runner event at Fairyhouse earlier this month and the form of that race is working out quite well. Given July Revolution is open to further improvement, he looks capable of following up that victory.
The feature race on the card this evening is the listed Irish Stallion Farms E.B.F Naas Oaks Trial (20:00) and it looks like a cracking contest. A case can be made for the majority of the field, but it may pay to side with the Aidan O'Brien-trained Betterbetterbetter who landed a maiden at Dundalk in March prior to finishing eighth in the Epsom Oaks earlier this month. The Galileo-filly was last seen finishing a clear second to Sapphire in the Noblesse Stakes at Cork, with a few of tonight's rivals in behind, and she looks sure to make a bold bid.
Last but by no means least is the Jim Bolger-trained Aquilonius (20:30), who showed steady progress as a juvenile before getting off the mark in decisive fashion in a Dundalk handicap over a mile in December. Following a below-par effort on heavy going at Tipperary in early-May, Aquilonius resumed his progress when landing a 10-runner event at the Curragh earlier this month, showing a willing attitude to regain the lead after being headed inside the final furlong. He has been put 7lb for that success, but the stiff finish is expected to suit and he should take plenty of beating.
