Timeform Irish SmartPlays: Friday August 23

Mullins has yet another potential bumper winner in action today

We head to Wexford and Kilbeggan for Friday's SmartPlays...

"He has ran with credit in his four starts thus far never being out of the first four places, but today looks his time to get on the scoresheet..."

We head to Wexford (16:45) for the first of today's SmartPlays where the appropriately-named A Star Is Born is taken to shed her maiden tag at the fourth time of asking in a less competitive contest than she has faced thus far in her career. Magical Steps and the well-bred Sariyfa look the two most likely to follow her home.

Hot on the heels is maiden hurdle action at Kilbeggan (17:00) where Dancing Roe is another who can open his account in a moderate contest. He has ran with credit in his four starts thus far never being out of the first four places, but today looks his time to get on the scoresheet. Kestrel and Lily the Lioness, runner up to the talented Cailin Annamh last time, can fill up the places.

Finally we look at the closing bumper on that card where Beluckyagain represents maestro Willie Mullins, and can add yet another win to his extensive tally. Marley Exit is an obvious threat whilst Ballyroe Rambler showed enough in two outings over hurdles over the colder months to suggest he can figure in proceedings here.
