Timeform's Irish team have picked out three SmartPlays on this afternoon's jumps card at Wexford....
"Whiskey Hall failed to justify support on his first start for his current yard at Limerick last time but did enough to suggest that he will remain of interest from the sort of mark he runs off today..."
Coral Creek has just about the best form on offer in the opening maiden hurdle at 16:50 but the fact that she is still a maiden after 14 attempts over hurdles tempers enthusiasm for her and it may pay to side with the locally trained Big Generator. Paul Nolan's charge showed plenty of ability in bumpers, finishing second on both starts, and travelled well for a long way in the maiden hurdle won by Marasonnien at Naas in January. Big Generator failed to stay three miles last time and the booking of champion jockey elect, Davy Russell, catches the eye.
It may well be a good day for Davy Russell as he also has a good chance of landing the Cahore Point Handicap Hurdle aboard Whiskey Hall. Whiskey Hall failed to justify support on his first start for his current yard at Limerick last time but did enough to suggest that he will remain of interest from the sort of mark he runs off today, appearing to be going best when taking a narrow lead at the second last, and this afternoon's race can quickly be whittled down to just a handful of realistic contenders.
Dizzy Rascal gained a long overdue first success over hurdles (thirty-first attempt) at Thurles earlier this month but is one to oppose back in handicap company at 18:20. She didn't need to improve to get the better of the disappointing Shrapnel (beaten again at Tipperary last night) on that occasion but that's not the view that the official handicapper took as he saw it fit to raise her to a mark of 106, which is fully 23 lb higher than the mark she was beaten off when last tried in a handicap. There are plenty of viable alternatives here so a place lay of Dizzy Rascal is advised.
