Monksland - 14:15 Gowran Park

Monksland, Dedigout and Briar Hill had all been off the track for a while before reappearing in last month's Christmas Hurdle at Leopardstown, the first-named in particular shaping as if retaining all his ability in finishing third that day. Briar Hill was deserted by Ruby Walsh there, but he's back on board this time and the partnership seem sure to give Noel Meade's charge plenty to think about.

High Expectations - 14:45 Gowran Park

High Expectations had something up his sleeve when making a winning start in handicaps at Naas this month. He is worth sticking with to shrug off a subsequent 5 lb rise, possibly at the expense of Railway Tommy, who got a bit closer to getting the job done over hurdles at Fairyhouse last time. Dick Dundee is another with claims in his bid to exploit a lower mark in this sphere.

Sadlers'flaure - 15:15 Gowran Park

Sadler'sflaure took a marked step back in the right direction when chasing home a progressive rival at Punchestown in December, and may offer some value in an open race, though Djakadam will be much sharper for his run in the Hennessy and commands respect on this recovery mission for his powerful yard. Sword Fish and Thelobstercatcher are others worth considering from the foot of the weights.
