Timeform on Steer Clear
William of Wykeham - 12:10 Clonmel
William of Wykeham is still a maiden but he ran his best race yet when finishing fifth at Fairyhouse last month and he looks fairly treated off the same mark. That was only the four-year-old's second start in handicap company, so he could be open to a spot of progress, and he offers decent value in what is an open contest.
Rathvinden - 12:40 Clonmel
Most of the principals here are better known as chasers, including Rathvinden, who finished third in the Grand National at Aintree last season. Rathvinden may be rising 12 but he has been lightly raced and, based on his excellent effort in the Grand National, evidently retains plenty of ability. He has not run over hurdles since finishing third in the Neptune at the 2014 Cheltenham Festival but this looks like a good opportunity.
Steer Clear - 14:55 Clonmel
Steer Clear has proved progressive this season and probably would have won at Fairyhouse last month had he not made a mistake at the final fence. He travelled best through that contest and edged ahead in the straight but forfeited his advantage at the last. He remains open to further improvement and looks sure to give a good account.
